If you held Bitcoin (BTC) in a TREZOR hardware wallet before the Bitcoin blockchain fork on August 1, 2017, you now also possess an equal quantity of Bitcoin Cash/Bcash (BCH). In this post we will show you how to retrieve it.

Claiming your BCH will require you to update your TREZOR firmware. As with any TREZOR firmware update, make sure you have your recovery seed words available in case of failure.

Step 1. Update TREZOR Firmware

Update your TREZOR to firmware version 1.5.1. To do so, visit TREZOR Beta Wallet.

Connect TREZOR, and input your PIN. You should see a message that says New TREZOR firmware is available, click the Show details button.

Review the information in the Your device firmware is outdated window. Click the Close button to continue.

Disconnect TREZOR from the USB cable. While simultaneously pressing both buttons on the front of TREZOR, re-connect it. Review the information in the Update device firmware? window, then click the Yes, update button to continue.

The new firmware will upload to TREZOR. Click the Confirm button on TREZOR to continue. When prompted, confirm the firmware fingerprint by pressing the Continue button on TREZOR.

If the firmware update was successful, disconnect TREZOR. In the unlikely event the firmware update was not successful, repeat Step 1.

Step 2. Claim Bitcoin Cash/Bcash (BCH) to TREZOR BCH Wallet

With firmware version 1.5.1 installed, visit TREZOR Beta Wallet. Connect TREZOR, and input your PIN. Click on the drop-down Wallet menu, and select Bcash (BCH).

In the message box at the top of the BCH wallet window, click the coin-splitting tool link.

In the Claim your Bcash window, click the Connect with TREZOR button.

Carefully review the information in the Claim Bcash to your wallet window. Your default BCH RECEIVE address may display in the Target Address field. If the Target Address field is blank, copy a BCH RECEIVE address from your TREZOR BCH wallet. Paste the BCH RECEIVE address into the Target Address field. Click the Claim XXX.XXX BCH button to continue.

Check the BCH recipient address on the TREZOR display. If it matches your BCH RECEIVE address, press the Confirm button on TREZOR. Press the Confirm button on TREZOR again to complete the transaction.

Return to the TREZOR BCH wallet. Your claimed BCH displays under the designated account number.

Step 3. View the transaction on Blockchair (optional)

Use the Blockchair website to explore your transaction on the Bitcoin Cash/Bcash (BCH) blockchain. Copy the BCH RECEIVE address used to claim BCH and paste it into the Blockchair search box. Or you may append your BCH RECEIVE address to the following link:

Please note that Bitcoin Cash/Bcash (BCH) is only visible and usable in the TREZOR Beta Wallet. Your BCH will not display in the standard TREZOR Wallet until SatoshiLabs provides a firmware update.

And that’s it. You should now have access to your post-fork BCH to do with as you please.
